Accumulation distribution is a study that plots the acquisition of long position in anticipation of a bull market. Distribution serves the same function in anticipation of a market decline. Accumulation distribution modifies the OBV concept by comparing the closing price to the opening price of the same period rather than the previous close to determine whether there was accumulation or distribution in the market for a given period.
