The Polarized Fractal Efficiency indicator (PFE) was developed in 1994 by Hans Hannula. This indicator was invented to determine price efficiency over a period of time, and is fluctuating between -100 and +100.

A positive PFE value mean that the trend is up and a negative PFE value mean that the trend is down. The further the PFE value is away from zero, the stronger and more efficient the given trend is. If the PFE value is fluctuating around 0, it means that there is a balance between the supply and the demand.
